Welcome to Bayard's Cafe...a Salina dining tradition for almost 47 years!

The Bayard's story began in1963 when Billie Bayard Bell came home to Salina with his wife JoAnn and their three children Janey, Lisa and Kevin after serving in the US Army. Billie opened the B-Bell Cafe on Bishop Street to feed the many hungry rail travelers passing through Salina on the passenger trains. Billie's children would take turns enticing diners by ringing the bell mounted outside the front door when the trains pulled into town. Another child, Billie Jo, came along and joined the family in 1968.

The B-Bell cafe operated for 14 years until the Bell's decided to move down the street to lkarger digs. In 1977, they opened the Union Station Cafe and increased their seating capacity from 22 to 76 diners. They also began serving their famous fare 24 hours a day. All the kids moved out into the world and tried different things during these years. Kevin and Lisa came back within a couple of years to help with the restaurant and are still here to this day.

The Union Station Cafe became Bayard's Cafe in 1987 after the Bell's moved to their current location at 2301 North Ninth Street. For more than four decades now, the folks at Bayard's Cafe have provided a warm, family-friendly dining experience for both those traveling through Salina as well as for those who call Salina home.

There is nothing fancy about Bayard's Cafe, just delicious home cooking, reasonable prices and a cheery atmosphere. This simple concept has made Bayard's Cafe a can't-miss dining destination.
